I started my yoga journey years ago with no thought about where I would be today. I am an ERYT-200, RYT-500, YACEP and Reiki Master. What does that mean to you? I like to learn, a lot!
A brief background on myself. I was a dancer of tap, ballet and jazz for about 18 years and loved every minute of it. I dabbled in rowing, kickboxing, Crossfit and biking. I have always had some connection to yoga during all of these other sports. I noticed that yoga gave me strength and flexibility. It gave me the ability to clear my mind and relax. I have practiced yoga on and off for 15 years. I remember my first class, I wondered what had I got myself into? People chanting OM and using a gong, and now I cannot get enough. I also remember trying my first Crow pose, falling on my face, getting the pose and still to this day face planting into the ground occasionally.
I have taken beginners classes, hot power classes, restorative classes and Reiki training. What I have learned on this journey and for me it has been the hardest lesson so far is to listen to your body. What does it need today? Does it need a more vigorous class, or something much softer like sitting in meditation or self Reiki? Learning to know the difference and follow through with that without judgment is definitely a practice in itself.
Yoga is a journey, and it is different for all of us and can serve us differently at any point in our lives. Whether it is relaxation and Reiki, or stretching to balance out the strength training that you do; I would love to help you on your journey.
